Since the beginning of March 2020, the Family Support Institute has been compiling relevant and accurate COVID-19 information, resources, and updates to better support families across the province. FSI has also been deeply listening to the family voice as it pertains to their biggest challenges, fears and struggles during these uncertain times. Below are tools and supports that FSI has put together in response to families’ needs.

CONNECT for Family Support
The foundation of the Family Support Institute is peer to peer support. This has not changed during this unprecedented time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our volunteer Resources Parents all have a family member with a disability and are available to support you through the challenges, uncertainties and fears you are facing. Together, we can share what is working, troubleshoot what isn’t, and brainstorm creative solutions to move our families through this troubling time.

If you would like to connect* with a Resource Parent for support, you can:

Call us** directly at
604-540-8374 or

If you are feeling isolated and would like to connect with others during this uncertain time with the COVID-19 pandemic, please join an online video call* with others in your community or across the province of BC. This peer to peer family support is an opportunity for live video contact where you can share, listen, learn, and connect with families facing similar challenges, fears and questions.
Come learn what others are doing at this time to creatively manage care for their loved ones, work from home, facilitate online schooling, safely support their communities, reduce their stress, appease their children, stay healthy and more… and, all from home!

ALL are welcome! Join in on any regional video call!
* We use zoom for online video call. If you’re new to Zoom, please click here to see the Zoom instructions.
