DESCRIPTION:SESSION INFO: « Back to all events\nWe cannot slow the aging process in ourselves or in the people we care for! As we get older\, our ability to care for our family member becomes more and more difficult. Planning our own future\, and the future of our loved ones can be a terrifying process. Will we be able to provide the necessary care? Will they be well cared for in the future\, after we are gone? What can we do to make the future easier? Connecting with other families in similar situations is the best way to problem solve and figure out what will work best for our specific situations. Join our call with other “mature” parents and caregivers and we can problem solve together! \n  \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER\n  \nAbout the speaker and session:\nLife carries on! We are all aging with every second of each day! It is difficult to predict how we will age until it actually happens. This is especially true for our loved ones with differing abilities. We can’t predict what changes will happen until they do! Avalon Tournier from the Alzheimer society will be joining us to teach us how to identify changes with our loved ones and help us to be prepared! There will be a chance to learn and ask questions! Please register to join us on July 15\, 2026 @6:30pm. \nAvalon Tournier has been the Support and Education Coordinator with the Alzheimer Society of B.C. and Yukon for 27 years. Prior to becoming a staff member\, Avalon was a volunteer speaker\, educator\, and group facilitator for the society for 16 years. She began volunteering for the Alzheimer Society of B.C. when her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 64. \nAs a staff member\, Ms. Tournier has been interviewed many times on both television and radio\, often regarding responsive behaviours which can result from dementia. She has presented information and education sessions both virtually and in person to doctors\, health care professionals\, family caregivers\, and people living with dementia. \nThousands of people in the community have benefitted from her personal experience as a caregiver\, plus her long years of experience supporting and educating families and health care professionals. Her sense of humour and her past career as a teacher have enriched her unique and caring presentation style. \n  \nYou are invited to join FSI CONTINUING CONVERSATIONS\, a private Facebook Group intended to continue conversations of support or provide an alternative platform for support. www.facebook.com/groups/fsicontinuingconversations/ \nAfter the session you are encouraged to share your feedback. This helps FSI improve our content to better serve the needs of families. \n  \nFSI is committed to making our events as accessible as possible to everyone who wants to attend.
