DESCRIPTION:SESSION INFO:   « Back to all events \nJoin us on June 2 for  Sexual Health \n“Let’s talk about sexuality” – this phrase offers up a wide range of possibilities – along with a host of anxieties. As a parent of a child with a disability\, this is dreaded while at the same time recognized as an important part of parenting and of your child’s life. This workshop provides an opportunity for parents\, in a supportive setting\, to explore some of their fears and anxieties and curiosities in a safe environment. This is to begin the courageous conversation around ensuring that individuals being supported – are not only safe from sexual exploitation but also have the correct support and information to embrace that part of who they are and how they interact in relationships with others. In this workshop you will learn how to approach the topic of sexuality and relationships. \nLearning Outcomes: \n\nLearn different ways in which you can find current information about sexuality and health and feel comfortable discussing sexuality\nExamine your personal beliefs and values of sexuality and critically consider what you are/are not able to discuss with your family member yourself.\nPromote relationship developing skills and perspectives with your family member\nDemonstrate tangible take away tips\n\n  \nClick Here to Register!  \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. \n  \nRachel Skidmore is a mother of two unbelievable daughters. They teach her every day things that she did not know.The topic of sexuality and sexual health has always been important to her\, and the importance of it grew when she found out she was going to have daughters of her own. It then grew exponentially when Rachel discovered her youngest daughter was going to be in the highest vulnerability category. She has had the honour of sharing this presentation with families\, self advocates\, and with service providers whilst engaging in dialogue with people about why it is so important we break down the taboo of discussing sexuality and sexual health. Watching each family follow their own path because\, sex\, sexual health\, gender are ingrained into our family values and each family presents it in their own unique way to their family member.
