FSI Learning Explorations ~ Understanding the Disability Tax Credit
October 5, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm PDT
Join us Oct 5th at 7 pm for Understanding the Disability Tax Credit with Jana Husseini.
SESSION INFO: The Disability Tax Credit (DTC) is an important disability support that helps reduce taxes and provides access to other important supports like the Child Disability Benefit and Registered Disability Savings Plan. In this session, we will talk about its benefits, eligibility criteria, application process, and why it’s important to apply. Disability Alliance BC’s Access RDSP Program provides individuals and families with free support with applications and more.
Jana Husseini is an active disability community member born with Spina Bifida with a background in human services. Over the years, she has worked with Disabled People’s International (Arab Region) and the Lebanese Physical Handicapped Union where she oversaw many activities at the regional and international levels. Jana started her career as a young disability advocate in 2006 as a volunteer with the Lebanese Physical Handicapped Union. She has led many youth activities mobilizing young women and men with disabilities to get their voices heard, thus advocating for inclusion. Jana is an RDSP and DTC Advocate for the Access RDSP program at Disability Alliance BC since 2018. She has been able to draw on her own experiences living with a disability to support others to access the benefits of the Registered Disability Savings Plan. Jana regularly presents to groups around the province about the benefits of the DTC and RDSP. In her spare time, Jana enjoys kayaking, volunteering, hand-cycling, and mountain biking.
