The Accessibility Secretariat will provide an overview of current work, respond to participant questions, and take input on how government can continue to promote greater access and inclusion for persons with disabilities.

Sam Turcott joined the Provincial Government in 2019 as Executive Lead for British Columbia’s Accessibility Secretariat. Prior to his role in government, Sam was Executive Director of Policy and Programs with Disability Alliance of British Columbia (DABC), a charitable organization that promotes the dignity and independence of people with disabilities throughout the province. His interests include creating awareness on a wide range of topics such as disability benefit programs, community inclusion, human rights and accessible employment. Sam holds a degree in Economics from the University of Victoria and a Law degree with a specialization in Social Justice from the University of British Columbia. At the Disability Alliance of British Columbia, he held senior positions such as Tax AID DABC Manager, Advocacy Access Director, and Executive Director of Policy and Programs. As Executive Lead, Sam is responsible for promoting greater accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities. From 2019 to 2024, his focus will be on the development and implementation of Accessibility Legislation. Through his role, he continues to work on breaking the barriers for people living with disabilities at the municipal, provincial and federal level with the Accessibility Directorate team.
