SUMMARY:Autism: Recognizing the Importance of Regulation and Connection
DESCRIPTION:SESSION INFO: « Back to all events\nPresentation:\nChildren with autism have a high tendency to struggle with regulation. Feeling over-stimulated by their environment or having language delays are just two examples of why they may have emotional difficulties. In this presentation\, we will learn how regulation and connection needs to happen before reason. How connecting with your child will result in more success than trying to reason with their behaviors. We will explore the functions of behaviors\, the importance of regulation\, and different ways to connect with your child. This presentation will be based on my clinical practice and the work of Dr. Bruce Perry’s Three R’s. Regulate\, Relate\, and then Reason. \n  \nREGSITER HERE\nGuest Presenter: Zoila Carolina Hall\, MC \nRegistered Psychologist\, Certified Play Therapy Supervisor\, Clinical Director & Owner of Creative Minds Consulting Inc. \nCarolina began her career in the helping field as a Behavioral Therapist in British Columbia. Dave is here to help you through the process and interpret all the jargon. \nThis talk is intended for parents of children with autism who have not yet applied (or need to re-apply) for the Disability Tax Credit. \nIf you have a child with autism\, I can guarantee that you are experiencing financial stress. Dave is here to help alleviate some of this stress. \n  \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER\n  \nGuest Speaker: \nDavid Taylor is the parent of a child with autism and has been running a home-based ABA program for 16 years. Parents are often shocked by how much they will gain by applying for the Disability Tax Credit. \nDave will not be talking about how to file your taxes or what you may be able to claim. This will be presented in a subsequent talk “Autism and Taxes – Level Two” which we will host again next February. \nPlease do not bring your tax questions to this talk. We will only be discussing the application process. \n  \nPlease note this presentation will be run as an online live webinar. It is open to everyone in British Columbia. This event will be recorded\, but THE RECORDING WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE TO ATTENDEES.
