We will engage in open discussions to break down stigma about menstruation\, promote understanding\, and make connections.\nWeek 3: Menstrual Self-care Kits and Period Product Exploration. This week we will explore different types of menstrual products\, including pads\, tampons\, cups\, underwear\, and reusable pads. We will make personalized self-care kits with items such as cramp cream\, chocolates\, snacks\, skincare products\, and more that participants will get to take home with them.

SUMMARY:Supporting a Loved One Struggling with Mental Health and Substance Use: Education and Resources for Parents and Caregivers
DESCRIPTION:SESSION INFO: « Back to all events\nConcurrent disorders are mental illness and substance use disorders that occur at the same time. When this happens with youth\, parents and families may need help to make sense of the situation\, communicate more effectively with their loved one\, and to find the most appropriate service to assist the youth in making positive changes in their life. Join us at this in-person event to hear about information\, tools\, and strategies for parents and caregivers. \nSpeakers: Isaac Heyes and Michelle Spani are Masters’-level therapists with Fraser Health’s Youth Concurrent Disorders Program\, currently serving youth aged 13-24 who have complex\, severe mental health and substance use challenges. They provide one-to-one counselling sessions\, comprehensive assessments\, crisis stabilization\, professional consultation\, and community education. SUMMARY:Healthy Athletes Screening
DESCRIPTION:Healthy Athletes Screenings provides free\, fun screenings and education for people with intellectual disabilities in a variety of medical disciplines. Through Healthy Athletes\, health care professionals receive formalized training about the specific health care concerns of people with intellectual disabilities and how to ask the right questions\, helping them draw out issues. Their interactions with Special Olympics athletes lead to referrals back into the health care system that ensure the individuals will get the treatment they need. \nDue to COVID\, pre-registration is required and is on a first come first serve basis. We have 52 spots available per each timeslot. No day of walk-ins allowed. \nLocation: Douglas College – New Westminster (700 Royal Ave\, New Westminster\, BC V3M 5Z5)\nTime: Registration is required for one of the following timeslots: 9:00am to 11:00am; 11:30am to 1:30pm; 2:00pm to 4:00pm \nRegistration Form: https://forms.office.com/r/TTSt2R3N1n\nRegistration Deadline: Wednesday November 24th – or until spaces are filled\nTransit: Douglas College is a few blocks from the New Westminster SkyTrain Station and is easily accessible by transit. There is a large paid parking lot at the New Westminster Station that is open on Sundays. The Douglas College paid parking lot may be closed on Sunday.
