Family Support Institute of BC (FSI) respects and upholds an individual’s right to privacy and to protection of their personal information. FSI is committed to ensuring compliance with applicable employee privacy legislation. BC Personal Information Protection Act 

Before you consider setting up an account on the FSI’s Website, we need you to read this statement and consider our privacy practices: 

• FSI is accountable for donor, employee, board, and volunteer information under its control. The Executive Director is the designate Privacy Officer.
• Personal information cannot be collected without the prior consent of the individual it concerns. That individual must be informed of the reasons their information is required. Information cannot be used for a purpose other than the stated purpose (for example, if a donor’s name and address are acquired to mail out a tax receipt, this information cannot then be used to put that donor on a mailing list unless their permission is specifically obtained for this new purpose). 
• Disclosure of Information to Third Parties-the only circumstance under which personal information may be disclosed to third parties is for the fulfillment of any purposes identified above, or as required by law. 
• FSI will collect and use the personal information you provide when you set up an account so that we can respond to questions or comments you might have about your account or the activities of the Family Support Institute. 
• To set up an account, you must choose a user ID and password. We will not have access to your password. It is your responsibility to keep your user ID and password confidential to help protect your personal information from unauthorized users. 
• You have the right to access your personal information under the control of FSI. The designated Privacy Officer will assist you with your access requests. In certain exceptional circumstances, FSI may not be able to provide access to certain personal information that it holds about you. If access cannot be provided, FSI will notify you in writing of the reasons for the refusal. 
• If you feel information about you is incorrect, please put your concern in writing and forward it to the Privacy Officer. 
• This website and the online tools available here are operated by our service providers that maintain the technology (hardware and software) that makes it possible for you to set up an account. 
• Despite all of the security measures taken to protect your personal information, there is always a risk that your personal information could be lost, stolen, or compromised when it is submitted online. 
• If it is required by law or court order, your personal information could be made accessible to legal authorities.
