Join Disability Without Poverty to get the latest scoop on the Canada Disability Benefit. We want to update you on where’s the bill. You’ll find out the current status of Bill C22, the question of budgeting for the benefit, and an update from DWP.

#WheresTheBill?
Bill C-22 finished Second reading on March 9. It is now with the Senate Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology (SOCI), with public hearings scheduled from March 22 onwards.
Once the committee has done their work, a report is made. If the Senate does not propose any amendments, the bill moves onto Third Reading.
If the Senate proposes amendments, the bill is sent back to the House of Commons to debate these new amendments.
The risk with amendments in the Senate is that the House of Commons can vote to defeat the bill, and Bill C-22 would be no more.
