Concurrent disorders are mental illness and substance use disorders that occur at the same time. When this happens with youth, parents and families may need help to make sense of the situation, communicate more effectively with their loved one, and to find the most appropriate service to assist the youth in making positive changes in their life. Join us at this in-person event to hear about information, tools, and strategies for parents and caregivers.
Speakers: Isaac Heyes and Michelle Spani are Masters’-level therapists with Fraser Health’s Youth Concurrent Disorders Program, currently serving youth aged 13-24 who have complex, severe mental health and substance use challenges. They provide one-to-one counselling sessions, comprehensive assessments, crisis stabilization, professional consultation, and community education. Isaac and Michelle have extensive backgrounds working with youth and young adults in various mental health and substance use settings, both within Fraser Health as well as with community service agencies.
This in-person event will be hosted at Douglas College’s Coquitlam Campus at 1251 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam.
Doors will open at 6:00pm. Please join us to connect, check out some community resources and find a seat. The presentation will begin at 6:30pm and will include our speakers and a Q & A Panel with young people and families with lived experience.
With gratitude, FamilySmart would like to acknowledge the work and contribution of Fraser Health’s Youth Concurrent Disorders Program. As well as, the generosity of the Ministry for Child & Family Development for sponsoring this event.
