FSI Early Years Series are bite-size sessions that offer a deep dive into early years topics.
Please join us as we take a closer more detailed look at The StrongStart program with StrongStart Educator Nicky Bartel. We will also be hosting returning guest Lindsay Lindsay, Resource Teacher with Central Okanagan Schools – Lindsay will be introduce the role of a Resource Teacher with a focus on children who have just entered public school from Kindergarten up to the age of 8.
Nicky Bartel has been an Early Childhood for the past 27 years and a StrongStart Educator with SD#28 for the past 5 years. Nicky will share an overview of The StrongStart program with a glimpse of a typical day at play.
Lindsay Lindsay is a resource teacher in the school district with 15 years of experience supporting children with exceptionalities. She didn’t set out to be a teacher, as she worked for the Ministry of Children and Family Development and as a education assistant after completing her psych degree. Once in the classroom as support staff, she knew it was back to school to become a teacher and make a career change. Later on, a diploma in inclusion was also completed to fulfil her role as a resource teacher. When not at work, Lindsay is a wife and mom of two children, ages 11 and 13. She also enjoys time outdoors, running, and spending time with family and friends. Lindsay’s diverse experience provides a rich perspective when collaborating with families and school professionals.
Family Support Institute of BC (FSI) is a provincial not-for-profit society committed to supporting families who have a family member with a disability. FSI is unique in Canada and the only grass roots family to family organization that has a broad volunteer base.
