Canadian Disability Benefit

The Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) is a monthly payment for all adults aged 18-64 persons with disabilities in Canada who have low income.
- Be a Resident of Canada for Income Tax Purposes
- Approved for Disability Tax Credit
- Between ages of 18-64
- Up to date on your tax filing
- File your income tax for the previous year
- Apply for Disability Tax Credit. Please visit our DTC page for help
- Prepare your application for the Canadian Disability Benefit online or call Service Canada at 1-833-486-3007
Note: If the person is married or in a common-law relationship, their spouse or common-law partner must also file an income tax return with the Canada Revenue Agency for the previous tax year.
How much is it?
The maximum amount of the Canada Disability Benefit will be up to $200 per month, or $2,400 annually (July to June). The amount someone will receive will depend on their income and the income of their spouse or commonlaw partner, if they have one. Retroactive payments for up to 2 years:
You can get payments for all the months you were eligible, starting from June 2025, even if you apply many months later.
